On Saturday October 2nd, 2022, friends, family and members of the Sons of the American Revolution joined in a Compatriot grave marking ceremony for the late Nolan Wendell Carson. This ceremony was held at the grave site in the historic Spring Grove Cemetery.
Nolan Wendell Carson was a very active member of the Cincinnati, Ohio and National chapters of the Sons of the American Revolution.
The Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution named its Color Guard in his honor. Many of these current color guard members attended this event. In addition, there were Color Guard participants from the great state of Virginia.
Mr. Carson’s family and friends attended this tribute to a great man, father and friend. There was great interaction between the family and the Sons of the American Revolution participants.
Mike Gunn (Grave Marking Chairman and Color Guard Commander) and Jack Bredenfoerder (Ohio President of the Sons of the American Revolution) of the Cincinnati SAR led the presentations. Lee Wilkerson (Ohio SAR) acted as Chaplain for the event.
The Carson family provided cool drinks and some very fall themed cookies which were a treat.
The Color Guard presented the flag colors, completed a three round musket volley and honored Mr. Carson with a “mourn arms” salute.
A moving and terrific event to a man and his family for all he did for patriotism and support of the Sons of the American Revolution.
