We would like to shout out for Tisha Grote from Lakota East High School (Cincinnati Metro area) for placing 3rd Nationally for the Dr. Tom & Betty Lawrence – American History Teacher award.
Tisha placed first in the Cincinnati Chapter competition, then placed first in the Ohio SAR Society competition. From there, Tisha competed and placed third in the National SAR Society competition.
Congrats from all of us in the Cincinnati Chapter. We know that her students know that we picked the right educator who displays and conveys the meaning of American History.
Candidates for the American History Teacher Award are being identified as we speak for this next year. If you, a student, facility, or administrator have a teacher who you feel is a candidate, please let us know. Deadline for candidate submission is December 24th, 2022.
Overview of the Requirements – each year, the Sons of the American Revolution seek to recognize educators who distinguish themselves in teaching the history of the American Revolution. This award is eligible for Elementary, Middle and High School teachers. There is an application process, and the most important part is a written essay of a minimum of 1,000 words discussing the importance of teaching the American Revolution era to our young adults. The deadline for submission of the documents is December 24th of each year. Sounds like a wonderful gift to me. Please encourage any educator you know who carries the knowledge of this critical era of our country, and is passionate about sharing that knowledge with our youth.
