Wreaths Across America – Call to Action – Looking for Volunteers – Saturday 1/7/2023

We will be looking to “retire” the wreaths placed on the graves of fallen veterans.

Unfortunately, picking up the wreaths does not carry with it as much fanfare and recognition as placing the wreaths.  Someone has to do it!   We are asking for your help!

We need all the assistance we can muster to pick up and dispose of the wreaths.

At Spring Grove Cemetery, SAR WAA Committee Chair Bob Bowers will coordinate pickup and disposal of the wreaths placed on 12/17/2022.

The wreath pickup at Spring Grove is scheduled for Saturday 1/7/2022 at 9:30AM.

The following is a note from Bob Bowers:

“All able bodied are encouraged to come to Spring Grove at 0930 or so, 1000 at the latest.  We’ll remove wreaths and load vehicles.  We will need every available vehicle because loose wreaths take up much more space than those in cartons.  Beware that vehicles will be full of pine needles and plan accordingly.  Pickup trucks are easy with a leaf blower, which I will bring.  SUVs and vans (recommend a large sheet of plastic) will require some up front planning to ease the cleaning task.  Disposal will be at the Indian Hill Public Works building at 6525 Drake Road.”

We would love to have your help for all aspects of this disposal process!

The effort will include picking up 700 + wreaths and hauling them to a dumpster in Indian Hill.

Anyone with a box or pickup truck is encouraged to help out.  Note that the wreaths to pick up are pine tree wreaths, so wear protective gloves and clothing that can get pine sap on them.

Again, we can use all the help we can get.  If you want to participate, please reach out to Bob Bowers or complete the “Contact Us” section of this website.

Look forward to you helping us out!

Thanks!!
