Was your Patriot Ancestor an Officer in the Colonial Militia during the American Revolution?

During my recent to the National Sons of the American Revolution Headquarters and Library in Louisville, I noted a unique new organization.

“The Sons and Daughters of Officers of the Colonial Militia 1775-1783” (aka SDOCM) was organized for educational and charitable purposes.  Membership is open to men and women of lineal descent from an officer who led a militia unit at any time between April 15th, 1775 and December 23, 1783.

There is a one-time Life membership dues fee of $300.00 and record copies from leading lineage societies are accepted as proof.
