Speaker Series – April 5th, 2023 – The History of Montgomery Ohio – presentation by Ms. Tracy Henao

We were blessed by the presence of Ms. Tracy Henao, the Assistant City Manager for Montgomery Ohio at our General Membership Meeting on 4/5/2023.

Tracy gave a slide show presentation of the history of the city of Montgomery.

I am not a Cincinnati native yet was surprised to learn that the current growth of the City of Montgomery came after World War II.  We learned how the City has worked hard to retain much of the charm and history of the “early days”.

Many of the SAR members in attendance remembered some of the locations Tracy discussed, many have since departed for “progress”.  There was plenty of discussion and reminiscing.  There was even an offer of the return of a table from the Chester Road House, a local favorite eatery, by an unnamed chapter member :).

The early claim to fame for Montgomery was as a stopping point for many travelers heading from downtown Cincinnati to Columbus.  Tracy guided us through the transition of Montgomery from a transit stop to the bustling community we see and experience today.  The branding for the city is “A Charming Past, A Glowing Future”

We even learned the history of the Montgomery Inn our host for our meeting.  Tracy shared that the Montgomery Inn started as a tavern and the Gregory family catered in food for guests.  Along that journey the family had a “what if moment” and they decided to add food, a secret sauce and transitioned to both a restaurant and bar.  The rest is history!

We were grateful for Ms. Henao taking the time to share with us the stories, the history and the promise for the future of Montgomery.

Cincinnati SAR President George Stewart presented Ms. Henao with a “Certificate of Appreciation” Award as well as a “Challenge Coin” as a sign of our appreciation.

Ms. Tracy Henao is presented a “Certificate of Appreciation” from George Stewart, President of Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution

Please join us at our next General Member meeting scheduled for Wednesday May 3rd, 2023 (greeting and meals – 5:30-7:00 / main meeting at 7:00).
