The Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution have a treasure that many may not know about. That gem is the Captain Howard A Miller Flag Collection.
Few may know that Captain Howard Andrew Miller was an authority on flags. Formally an authority on flags is referred to as a “vexillologist”.

As an authority on flags, Captain Miller and his wife traveled thousands of miles giving talks to many organizations throughout the country. After he had accumulated an impressive collection of 65 flags, his age made it difficult for Captain Miller to travel to display these flags.

In 1986, Captain Miller made a decision to loan his prized collection of flags to the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. This was done with the stipulation that they would be displayed at least once a year.
I located in the CCSAR Archives a notice of death for Captain Miller, sharing it below to acknowledge Captain Miller’s great life and contributions:
