Field of Memories – National Memorial Day Celebration – Arlington Memorial Gardens – Friday May 26, 2023

On Friday, May 26th 2023 members of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution attended the Fields of Memories National Memorial Day Celebration at Arlington Memorial Gardens.

It was a beautiful day with a soft wind blowing that made the flags come alive to commemorate the lives lost during service to our country.

Color Guard Commander Brad Jarard, Gary Duffield, Clay Crandall and Bob Bowers set up a display of four Regimental flags, the Betsy Ross flag and the 50-star American flag in the gentle breeze.

Following the singing of the National Anthem a three-volley musket salute was fired paying tribute to all those members of the armed forces that paid the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the United States.

First Vice President Scott Freeman and Second Vice President Bruce Bennett each attended in civilian attire assisting the color guardsmen in answering questions from the crowd.  Bruce Bennett took photos of the event.

There was a lot of public interest in what the Sons of the American Revolution are and what activities we do in the community, state of Ohio and Nationally.

Lisa McClain, the Arlington Memorial Gardens event coordinator was well pleased and looks forward to our participation in 2024.

Thanks to all who came and gave meaning to those who have passed before us.

God bless America!
