Color Guard Practice – Award Given to Bob Hill for his Service

A week ago, myself Bob Hill and Al Gummere of the Hocking Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution drove down to Cincinnati to get a little color guard practice with SAR compatriots of the Cincinnati Chapter.

It was a beautiful spring day, perfect for our outdoor practice.  Spring is here! Soon our schedules will be busy with outdoor activities!

CCSAR President George Stewart presents Bob Hill an Award of Appreciation for Youth Education and Color Guard participation

Without a doubt, the fellows in the Nolan Carson Memorial Color Guard of Cincinnati are the best in our state, and their commander, Brad Jarard, is a great instructor. He’s better than I am at this sort of thing and I wish I could talk him into being the next State Color Guard Commander, but he still works and is busy training for triathlons. I understand that ambition.

Before we started practicing in the parking lot of Miami Valley Christian Academy, the Chapter President George Stewart presented me with a Certificate of Appreciation from the Cincinnati Chapter (CCSAR) for helping them with a day-long school presentation (at Mason Middle School) and attending a few of their color guard events last year.

I was very moved and appreciative of the gesture. It is always a pleasure to be in the company of those who are dedicated in preserving and presenting the history of our American Revolution.

Thank you George and Cincinnati Chapter! Huzzah!
