Naturalization – New US Citizens – Friday April 12th – SAR was there!

So George Washington Was Not Our First President – What?

The events leading up to the Revolutionary War covered decades before our ceremonial July 4th, 1776 we have etched in our minds.

It wasn’t until the Revolutionary War ended that we elected George Washington as our first president.

What if George was not our new countries first president?

Would you be surprised if there were “three Presidents” before George Washington?

Can you name any of them?

I could not …..  never heard of any of them.

Fold3 – Massachusetts Revolutionary War Records – Now Available!

Fold3 is a great source for finding military records from all conflicts.

For those who served in the Revolutionary War, Fold3 can be a great resource.

Recently, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts compiled an alphabetized index of service records for Rev War soldiers and sailors.

The result of their efforts is a 17 volume series.  This collection can be accessed via Fold3 – see the link below:

Flag Day – joint DAR/SAR Event on June 8th – Color Guard Event

We have an upcoming joint DAR/SAR event coming up on Saturday June 8th, 2024.

This event is commemorating Flag Day!

This is an annual event whereby a number of DAR chapters participate.  This year the event is hosted by the Butler County Nathaniel Sackett Chapter of the DAR.  They have chosen to invite the Cincinnati SAR as guests to their event.  We are grateful.

2028 Congress – Cincinnati Will Be Hosting This Event – More Information ….

Cincinnati will be hosting the 2028 National SAR conference in July 2028.

Cincinnati’s very own Lee Wilkerson is the Chairman for this special upcoming event.

Past Cincinnati Presidents Don McGraw and George Stewart are holding leadership positions for this special event.

Upcoming Ohio Society Meeting – Friday May 3rd – Sunday May 5th – Granville Ohio

Seminar – “American Revolutionary War in the West” – Oct 27-29 St. Louis

Today I received this invitation to an upcoming fall event in St. Louis Missouri.

Sharing as this may work with others schedules and interests in Rev War history.

The event is scheduled for October 27-29th in St. Louis.

This is a multi-day event with speakers on various topics.  The emphasis is on the American Revolutionary War in the Western Territories of the new USA.

This should be a unique opportunity to learn and discuss little known aspects and new perspectives of the war focused on the western (including the Louisiana territory and the southern) theater and international aspects, with top scholars and experts from around the country and from Spain.

Registrations are limited and will be accepted in the order received (first come, first served). Due to the tremendous response to last year’s conference, we are doing it again with all new topics and expect another sellout.
