Are you completing your initial applications for SAR or DAR?

Hoping for a place that will have information from the American Revolutionary War period and to the present that no one else may have?

About 4 hours from here is the Ft. Wayne Indiana.

Located in a special distinct section of the Allen County Public Library is the “Genealogy Center”.

If you are looking to discover your family history, the Genealogy Center located in Ft Wayne at the Allen County Public Library could be the key to unlocking the treasures you are hunting for.

Background on the The Genealogy Center:

It is the second-largest in the nation (Salt Lake City is the largest), is world-renowned for its immense and accessible collection that totals more than 1 million physical items. Plus, the Genealogy Center is fully staffed with trained genealogists who are eager to help you get started or dig deeper into your family story.

The ACPL Genealogy Center is a unique and valuable resource for the Northeastern Indiana community and the entire genealogical community at large.  We have one of the largest research collections available, incorporating records from around the world. Our staff specializes in genealogy and is always available to help.

Recently, my wife visited there on a quest to do some research on ancestral family members we were having difficulty with during a supplemental application we were working on.

The parties being researched were from New York in the time early 1800’s to mid 1800’s.  My wife was amazed at the amount of materials available in this Genealogical Center.  She was able to locate additional Military Records as well as land / plot maps for the area my ancestors lived in.

Even better was the availability and willingness to help of the staff there.  They clearly love what they do and are willing to help you in your search.

We will go back when we have additional time and encourage you to reach out and visit, or do some online research.
