“Listening Session” at Campus Martius Museum
Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 3pm
A new state commission to help plan for Ohio’s participation in the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026 was launched earlier this year. A 29-member Ohio Commission for the U.S. Semiquincentennial (yes that is 250th!) has been charged with planning, encouraging, developing and coordinating the commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and the impact of Ohioans on the nation’s past, present and future.
The Commission’s Executive Director Todd Kleismit is hosting a “listening session” to share some information about the work of the Commission and to hear from Ohioans about what they hope to see happen during the lead up to July 4, 2026, the nation’s 250th anniversary.
“Marietta, the first settlement of the Northwest Territory, is an important part of the story of America” said Nancy Hollister, a member of the Ohio Commission. “It is time to come together and plan a great celebration for the 250th! A large turnout with representative ideas from all civic and educational groups, veterans, historical societies, local communities and the general public is needed. How would you like to commemorate the 250th?”
Please join us at the Northwest Territory Museum – Campus Martius
