Youth Education – Three Rivers Middle School – Presenting the History of the Founding of our Country

On Wednesday December 7th, the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (CCSAR) presented information about the founding of our country to Fifth Grade students at Three Rivers Middle School.

The CCSAR was represented by six members, dressed in Revolutionary War Uniforms.  The CCSAR members were: Bob Bowers, Ed Bonniwell, Dan Schmitz, Lee Wilkerson, Gregg Ballman and Michael Gunn.

The morning started out at 7:30 AM with a pledge of allegiance to the flag.  The CCSAR members each introduced themselves and their patriot ancestor.

Old Glory, symbol of Freedom

The Sons of the American Revolution membership requires the member to prove ancestral lineage to a relative who fought, signed an oath of allegiance, or provided support to the war effort from 1776 – 1783 time period.

So these CCSAR members told the story about their ancestor(s) who helped the cause for America’s independence from Great Britain.

From there, the CCSAR members went to a different individual 5th Grade class to cover a different topic.

The participation ended at 12:45 PM.

Congrats to the CCSAR team and we applaud the leadership at Three Rivers Middle School for permitting these great Americans sharing their stories with our youth.

Thanks to all for a terrific and productive day!
