A report from Sergeant George Stewart:

The Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard and Youth Education team were called out to Saint Mark’s Lutheran Church in Milford early Tuesday, March 18, 2025 morning.

During a brief assembly each member of the Sons of the American Revolution explained how each of them were direct descendants of Patriots who served in the American Revolution. They discussed their uniforms and the connection to each of their patriot ancestors and what they wore during the conflict.

Presenters to the Students included: Vince McGeehan, George Stewart, Ed Bonniwell & Mike Gunn.

Musketeers: Bob Bowers, Tim Madden, Nathan Chester, George Stewart and Gary Duffield

Returning to the school area, four of us made four presentations to the older students and an additional presentation to some of the adults who came to the church. It is always interesting to find out what they know, what they think they know and finally what they don’t know. I place emphasis on what they doesn’t know!

Dr. Ed Bonniwell presents the “Battle of Yorktown” which was the key victory bringing to the close of the American Revolution.

Hopefully someday they will research history on their own I hope in the future it will be telling stories of the American Revolution and of those in the Cincinnati chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution who came and shared their knowledge with them on this day.

Members of the Color Guard and the Youth Education team

Overall, it was an exciting day.  The weather cooperated to allow the Patriots to demonstrate a musket salute.  Members of the public and family members also were invited to participate along with the students.  The presentations to the students by “Revolutionary War era” participants should be memorable.

We are grateful to the administration and staff of St Marks for allowing us to participate and share with their students some living history.

Awesome day to contribute to a students learning about the history of our great and unique country.
