On Wednesday September 4th, there was an award presented to long time Youth Education contributor Dan Schmitz.  Dan was honored in front of the most active members of the Cincinnati SAR chapter.

What makes this award special in addition to Dan’s outstanding and selfless service is that fact that this medal is one of the few, if the only medal awarded by the National SAR organization to an individual contributor not active at the national level.

This award is honoring and recognizing Compatriot Daniel Stuart Schmitz for his service in furthering the preservation of US history and its traditional teaching in our schools.

Dan’s service to Youth Education includes:

• Prior to retiring from Youth Education efforts at the end of December 2023, Dan had made historical presentations at thirty-six (36) schools to 8,638 students.
• Dan performed his efforts from 2016 to 2023

We are grateful for Dan’s service to our chapter (which continues to this day) as well as being an available mentor and cheerleader for our Youth Education programs.
