On Friday December 15th at 10:30 AM, there was a special recognition event held at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown Ohio.
The sun shone bright and warm on a blustery December day.
This home is special as it is a place veterans who are aged, disabled or need special assistance can live and receive the care and support they need.
It is a beautiful facility staffed with caring and attentive staff and leadership.
Members of the Highlands and Cincinnati Chapters of the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) participated in the presentation to residents who attended.
The event started with an indoor event. Highlands SAR President Gary Duffield opened up the event with a welcome message and the presentation of wreaths.
Highlanders Chapter of the SAR addresses the gathered crowd to open the ceremony.
This was followed by a proclamation from the President General of the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution which was read by Jack Bredenfoeder.

Once the indoor event was concluded, the SAR participants as well as Ohio Veterans Home staff and friends / relatives of veterans who had lived and passed away during their stay at Ohio Veterans Home, proceeded outside.
Once outside, the event continued with the placing of a wreath on a granite monument representing each year of the Home existence. Each of these year’s markers has the names of Ohio Veterans Home residents, who passed away during that year.

The markers placed were to honor these men and women of our armed forces who received care at the Ohio Veterans Home.
We at SAR were honored to be able to participate and share in the gratitude for these outstanding individuals and their service to our country.
We are looking for more volunteers to donate money to purchase more wreaths to cover all the memorial stones at Ohio Veterans Home. Please reach out to Gary Duffield.
