Upcoming SAR Event – Patriots Day! April 20th – Washington Park

We have an exciting event coming up on April 20th.

The Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will honor five Revolutionary War Patriots on Patriots Day 2024.

This event will occur in Cincinnati, OH at Washington Park (downtown Cincinnati.

On April 20, 2024 at 10 AM the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, (CCSAR) with it’s Nolan Carson Memorial Color Guard will be joined by several other SAR members from OH, KY & IN; DAR Chapters; CAR; local Historians and interested citizens to an introduction to the history that brought us here first in Memorial Hall.

In Memorial Hall, there is a 8’ X 12’ bronze plaque containing the names of 200 Revolutionary War Patriots, 55 of which were buried in unknown graves somewhere in Hamilton County, OH.

Washington Park was previously used as a cemetery and most of those interred there were moved to other cemeteries in the greater Cincinnati area.  Many were re-interred in Spring Grove Cemetery.

After a History Presentation by CCSAR Color Guard Commander J. Bradley Jarard with the assistance of the Ohio Color Guard members, Emcee Michael Gunn will lead the group of attendees in a respectful ceremony remembering five of the fifty-four  soldiers remembered on that Saturday.

Previously, there was a granite monument dedicated in the Park.  On April 20th, an additional five patriots will be commemorated and the five being honored will now be entered into the National Database of Revolutionary War Veterans.

All fifty-five patriots recognized as providing service to the American Revolutionary War conflict.  In the next couple of years, there will be fifty-five patriots to be recognized.

There will continue to be additional services recognizing patriotic service for all the 55 recognized patriots, leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026.

Thanks for your support in this noble and honorable event and actions to recognize these sacrificed for our new country.
