In 1985 Cincinnati Compatriot Charles Edwards filled out a number of certificate request forms from the Department of Veterans Affairs for Presidential Memorial Certificates for all his Revolutionary War Patriots! This certificate is an engraved paper certificate, signed by the President, to honor the memory of honorably discharged deceased Veterans. As the months and years passed by with no response from Veterans Affairs, he stated a letter writing campaign. He wrote to the Department of Veterans Affairs inquiring about his request. There was no response. He wrote them again. Still no response or certificates. Compatriot Edwards was a man of action and he wanted results. He took his letter campaign one step further and wrote to his Congressman and his two Senators. With still no certificates in hand he wrote to the President of the United States. In 1992 Compatriot Edwards finally received his Presidential Memorial Certificates! I would say it is safe to say, Compatriot Edward and an impression on the Department of Veterans Affairs. You too can request your very own certificates still today as I did. It only took me 6 months to receive mine! http://www.cem.va.gov/pmc.asp
