SAR Volunteers Needed – 126th VFW National Convention in Columbus Aug. 9-12th

SAR Volunteers are needed to support Veterans, VFW members and those involved in Veterans support activities.

This event “The 126th VFW National Convention” will take place in Columbus Ohio on Saturday August 9th thru Tuesday August 12th.

This event will be held at the Greater Columbus Convention Center and participation is sponsored by the National and Ohio SAR groups.  The Cincinnati and Western Reserve Society chapters of the Sons of the American Revolution are expected to contribute volunteers to man a National SAR booth through out the 3.5 day session.

The convention is at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

According to the convention schedule online, the exhibits in Hall B-C are open from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm on Saturday August 9th through Monday August 11th, and from 8:00 am to noon on Tuesday August 12th.

The plan will be to have at least two compatriots to man the booth although having more at times especially during shift overlap would not hurt.

There will also presumably be some setup and take down involved before the start and after the finish.

This is a first time event for the SAR and we are working to get more details about materials, timing for set up and expectations.

Ideally we would have our members dress in period attire to attract attention and leave a visual image of visitors to our booth.

Reach out to Scott Freeman if you are interested in participating.  Scott will know the days / times we need coverage for the booth.

Other Ohio Chapters will also be participating.  Ideally we can arrange for car pooling and minimize / eliminate the need for overnight stays.

If you are willing to work multiple days, let Scott Freeman know your availability.  The expectation is that each person will work on one day only.

Thanks for helping out in this event!
