Prisoner of War – What Was It Like? Cincinnati Connection – Joel Green

Ever wonder what it was like to be a prisoner of war in the American Revolutionary War time frame?

Attached is a paper titled “Treatment of Joel Green and Other Colonial Revolutionary Prisoners by Great Britain” which is authored by Dr. Mike Gunn, Ph.D.. This article answers some of those questions of a forgotten element of warfare.

Mike is a member of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (CCSAR).  Mike is also the Chairman of the Revolutionary War Sites and Graves Committee for the Cincinnati Chapter and Chair of the Patriot Graves Committee for the Ohio Society of the Sons of the American Revolution (OHSSAR).

Joel Green was a POW or Prisoner of War who was originally from Connecticut during his war service.  Mr. Green later moved to Cincinnati and was buried in Cincinnati.
