My presentation on The Battle of Yorktown, Tuesday night, July 18th, 2023 to the Civil Air Patrol Base in Middletown, Ohio. As I came into the room, they stood and saluted. In the picture, yours truly answers that salute.
Tuesday night July 18th, I spoke at the Civil Air Patrol Base, Middletown, Ohio, on the Battle of Yorktown, representing the Cincinnati Chapter of SAR.
I found myself among a very impressive group of young cadets and officers. I was given 45 minutes to speak, followed by Q & A. Conversation flowed and it was such a high privilege to be a part of this, and it was such a high privilege to be there and to interact with those young officers.
One important aspect of the work of SAR is to remind our nation of the “rock from which we have been hewn”. I found these young cadets and officers excited about history, their questions were well focused and intelligently asked. I think personally I could have kept going until 11 o’clock.
I was so impressed with the officers; Lieutenant Sheila McClurg, and Major Fugate were my personal hosts. Also, their medical officer Col. Raine (a gynecologist by profession) was a complete joy. A very impressive and handsome officer, and he was so affirming.
It is a privilege to be a part of the Speaker’s Bureau. which allows me to speak outside of the classrooms, addressing military personnel, civic organizations, and various clubs.
I did enjoy a nice dinner prior to this event with my daughter and two of her girlfriends at the Cracker Barrel in Middletown.
Afterwards, my daughter and her two friends attended the presentation. These three beautiful girls were well received by the Cadets and officers – really well received!
May God continue to bless the work of SAR and my other fellow compatriots who participate in the Speaker’s Bureau.
