Tim Madden of the Cincinnati Chapter of SAR sharing this communication from the National Society of SAR.
Compatriots,
In the last week we have learned of an email phishing scam targeting our members. This email presents itself to be information about membership and/or membership renewal.
The scam goes on to request the user input their email address and email password.
This email is NOT from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution.
Please do not download the file attached to the email and do not provide your credentials as the email requests.
This is not how membership renewal notices are handled, and the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution will not ask for your email password for any reason.
If you have already provided the information requested in the email, please change your passwords on all platforms immediately.
Also, please take measures to ensure your devices have not been infected with malware or viruses.
If you ever have a question about a communication that purports to come from the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, please reach out to national headquarters and we can inform you whether the message is legitimate.
SAR Officers, please disseminate this message to you members to ensure all members are notified of this phishing campaign.
Sincerely,
Philip Bloyd
