New Cincinnati SAR Members – June 7th Meeting

During our recent June 7th General Membership meeting the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution welcomed four new members.

These new members have gone through the application process, have been able to prove their ancestral lineage back to a participant or key contributor to the American Revolutionary War activities.

Cincinnati SAR President George Stewart presents these four new members with their Membership Certificate

Our Cincinnati Registrar – Franz Ott has been busy having added 21 new members to the 2023 Membership.  The process of adding new members is quite involved and requires a lot of time for the prospective member and our Registrar Franz Ott.

Once Franz has worked through the paperwork submission and lineage proof information has been collected, the application moves forward to the State level and once that scrutiny has been passed, on to the National SAR for final and ultimate approval.  Only at that point is a member accepted into the SAR.

During the presentation of “Certificate of Membership”, the new members gave a brief overview of their Patriot Ancestor, their history and contributions to the best of their abilities with the historical information available to them.

The newest members to CCSAR are:

  • David Allen Robinson
  • Richard Scott Evans
  • Patrick Lawrence Shelmadine
  • David William Burleigh

One of our new members shares with the group his patriot ancestor’s story

We congratulate these new members as well as appreciate their efforts to make this happen.

The Cincinnati Chapter was recognized during the last State of Ohio Sons of the American Revolution annual meeting with the most active in adding new members.
