Naturalization Ceremony – University of Cincinnati – June 10th

The Honorable Sandra L. Ammann, formerly known as Sandra S. Beckwith, U.S. District Court Judge presided over a Naturalization Ceremony at the University of Cincinnati’s College of Law building on the campus grounds at 10 AM, Monday, June 10, 2024.

Forty new Citizens from twenty-two different countries were sworn in at University of Cincinnati College of Law, 2925 Campus Green Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45221.

Cincinnati SAR Compatriots John H. Bredenfoerder & Michael B. Gunn were in attendance in their Revolutionary War Light Dragoon Uniforms to enjoy the Welcoming Remarks delivered by UC College of Law Dean Haider Ala Hamoudi.

The UC College of Law Dean shared with the new citizens some of his own experiences when he was a new citizen and gave advice that was certainly helpful for them as they settle into their new citizenship. This was certainly valuable to the Naturalization Ceremony and a new, novel addition.

After the Hearing for Petitioners; The Oath of Allegiance to the United States of America administered by Clerk Emily Hiltz, The Court gave a Statement of Congratulation the new citizens.

Clerk Hiltz introduced a personal friend and Guest Speaker, Nee Fong Chin, Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Hamilton County, OH.  Ms. Chin then shared the new citizen experiences of both her and her family as they assimilated into the USA here in Cincinnati more than three decades ago.

Stepping into the Freedoms found here in the US and learning to live up to the responsibilities of citizenship must have been a gift to not only our new fellow residents.
