Mike Rowe – Something to Stand For – Movie about American History

Recently Mike Rowe created a new “Movie/Documentary” titled “Something to Stand For”.

Mike is a great story teller with one of those voices which is so remarkable it is easily identifiable.

His consistent support of technical education, his capturing the real world jobs through his series “Dirty Jobs” and frequent appearances in the media promoting jobs which do not require massive debt to be happily employed.

Mike is a recent SAR inductee along with his father back in December 2023, this event was captured on his frequent podcasts.  The link on our Cincinnati SAR website to the full blog article is:

Unfortunately, the movie was released only for a couple of weeks at the beginning of July to coincide with the July 4th celebrations.  If you were fortunate enough to see it, it was a treasure.

In the movie, Mike re-told the story of significant events in US history including the American Revolution, Civil War, World War II and the Civil Rights movement.  With similarities to Paul Harvey’s signature “The Rest of the Story”, Mike tells the story of these key events however adds the secret sauce of unique events which led to the milestone events, most which we have never heard.

If you have the opportunity to view this film, I would recommend it.

At this writing, the republishing of this movie is not determined.   You can view the trailer and register to be informed of future releases or outlets by going to the following link:

Hoping you saw the original release, and if not, I am confident it will be re-released.

Stay tuned!
