On Tuesday September 19th, Miami University hosted the Ninth Naturalization for Constitution Day event.
Friends, relatives, sponsors and well wishers gathered at this event to applaud these new citizens.
Mike Gunn of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution was there to welcome these new citizens. Mike was dressed in military attire representing the customary uniform of the state of his patriot ancestor in the American Revolutionary War.
The event honored and welcomed one-hundred and ten (110) new Citizens representing forty-eight different countries.
These new citizens and guests were treated to entertainment by the Miami University Men’s Glee Club. They sang the “National Anthem”, “God Bless America” and “This Is My Country”. These are fitting tunes to welcome these new citizens and certainly should make those in attendance have a lump in their throat.
Presiding over the ceremony was the Honorable Stephanie K. Bowman.
Mike Gunn presented a Cincinnati Chapter SAR Wooden Challenge Coin to Judge Bowman who was very pleased and graciously accepted.
Congratulations to these new US Citizens and welcome home to the land of the free, the brave and a country of individuals who are appreciated for their differences.
