Honor Flight – April 18, 2017

On Tuesday, April 18, 2017 six members of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution (CCSAR) attended the first of the Honor Flights to be flown with a cadre of Veterans who have served these United States of America in our armed forces. CCSAR President Jack Bredenfoerder, Gerald Knight, Michael Blum, George Stewart, Gary Duffield and Michael Gunn represented the CCSAR.

Once again we joined with the Simon Kenton Chapter of SAR and a goodly number of family, friends and other well-wishers of 72 veterans on their return from a very full day at Washington, D.C. However, this event also had attending his brother’s Honor Flight a person of note Keith Maupin, a Marine Corps Veteran and a man who lost his son Sergeant Matt Maupin who was taken prisoner, then murdered by an enemy in the mid east wars. Mr. Maupin said this was ‘his first Honor Flight experience’, but many people present shook his hand and greeted the same enthusiasm in him as the other two-hundred plus attendees at the CVG facility as the Emerald Pipe Band played military tunes including the Marine Anthem while accompanying the 72 from their flight that evening.

Does patriotism ever appear any better than this?
