Just down the road on Interstate 75 south of Lexington Kentucky, lies Fort Boonesborough (Richmond Kentucky)

Entrance to Fort Boonesborough
Many of us have memories of the coonskin hat on Fess Parker.
Replica cabins inside the walls of Fort Boonesborough
This historical treasure lies within a couple of hours of the Tri-State and a wonderful day or weekend trip. Many don’t know that Fort Boonesborough was created by adventurous pioneers just before the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
On Saturday and Sunday June 7th and 8th, the Fort Boonesborough Foundation will be sponsoring a special 250th Anniversary event with activities for all.
This is a free event, with demonstrations, daily portrayals of Boonesborough firsts, speakers, authors, book signings, period vendors and topped off with period music.
Noted that the Sons of the American Revolution will post the flags to start the event on Saturday morning.
Fun for all, and you will learn something about our history as a bonus.

We encourage you to hop in the car, take the whole family or a group and experience the raw woodland energy of the Kentucky wilderness.
