Former Miss America visits SAR Celebration of the 225th Anniversary of the Battle of Blue Licks, Kentucky August 18, 2007

They did it right for a first-of-its-kind celebration. A 225th Anniversary event normally draws a good crowd, so it was imperative that the planning and execution of this historically significant observance be placed in the right hands and it was. The Isaac Shelby Chapter, KYSSAR, the City of Maysville, Kentucky, and the Blue Licks Battleground State Resort put on a remarkable show. The Cincinnati Chapter was fortunate to be asked to participate in this event. After all, this battle in which the redoubtable Daniel Boone fought as a Patriot, and a celebration where a former Miss America, Heather French Henry, added her suppmi and talents to make the day shine. And then there were the others – the authors, historians, State Society Presidents, and a number of NSSAR General Officers as well as the Executive Director of the NS SAR – in all a remarkable group of people at gather at Blue Licks.
