Cincinnati SAR Participates in Youth Presentations – Harrison Elementary School

On Wednesday February 26th, the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution completed presentations to Harrison Elementary students.

The SAR team presenters included Vince McGeehan, Gregg Ballman, Ed Bonniwell, Bob Bowers and Mike Gunn.

There were over 100 students who moved through the presentations in four classrooms.

To conclude, they assembled the students for an outside presentation from noon to about 3 pm.

These Youth Education presentations are intended to share with young students some history about the Revolutionary War period, the reasons for the conflict and the impacts made in our relatively short history as a country.

Compatriot Gunn explains the mechanics of how a flintlock firelock operated and impacts on the battlefield strategies

The students were encouraged to ask questions and the SAR team answered them enthusiastically.

We have learned that students pay more attention and remember our members dressed in period attire

The Cincinnati Youth Education team is led by Bob Bowers and supported by a cast of eager fellow compatriots.

We are grateful to be able to address these students and faculty and share historic knowledge.
