The Cincinnati SAR Chapter held its annual Constitution Day luncheon on Sunday, September 9th at the RSVP Event Center on Wards Corner Road. Fifty-eight compatriots, friends and family gathered to celebrate the principles that are set forth in our nation’s Constitution. The Nolan Carson Memorial Color Guard presented the Colors under the command of Acting Commander Shaun Smith. Many compatriots were recognized for their achievements and the Chapter celebrated the national awards that they received at the Houston NSSAR Congress in July: The President General’s Activities Award, The Liberty Bell Americanism Award and the President General’s Cup.
Compatriot Chris McDowell delivered the keynote address which was an in-depth look at the lives of the ordinary Revolutionary War soldiers. Chris specifically related their lives to the monetary structure they were forced to endure. That structure contributed to their lack of food clothing and basic property. He also shared the importance of the African American Revolutionary War soldiers who were an important part of the revolutionary cause. It was indeed a very thought provoking presentation. Thanks Chris!
