Cincinnati SAR Attends and presents at the 2018 Scarlet Oaks NJROTC Awards Banquet

On May 2, 2018 the Cincinnati SAR Past President Michael Gunn presented Cadet Jacob Smith with the Bronze ROTC Medal at the Scarlet Oaks High School’s JROTC Awards Ceremony.

The event was emceed by Senior Naval Science Instructor Lt. Kuehner and Naval Science Instructor SCPO McDermitt and started at 1700 hours military time..

Other recipients of awards by many different organizations and we helped give out the Certificates and Medals as the organizations had no presenter. Of special note, Cadet Willertz was the rare winner of a $200,000 scholarship from the Navy Department, presented by their local recruiter. This honor has only a few recipients and not every year is an individual selected.

Many other awards and medals were also gived to the nearly 50 students who were there to partake in tis year’s event. More than 30 students, were also acknowledged as having enlisted this year in the Navy, Army, Ohio National Guard and Air Force and will begin training in just a few weeks.
