The Cincinnati Chapter SAR and the John Reily OSDAR held a joint luncheon to celebrate Veterans’ Day and the 100th Anniversary of the WWI armistice at the Blue Ash Quality Hotel on Sunday, November 11th.
The Nolan Carson Memorial Color Guard posted the Colors. Cincinnati SAR President Jack Bredenfoerder led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance, the National Anthem, and the SAR Pledge. John Reily OSDAR Regent Marlene Vastine led the daughters in the DAR Ritual. Cincinnati SAR President-elect Lee Wilkerson presented a tribute to the 100th Anniversary of the WWI armistice and the MIA-POW Remembrance ceremony. During the program,
President Bredenfoerder inducted Steven Brannen as a new Cincinnati SAR compatriot. Congratulations Steve!
Receiving supplementals at the same celebration were Compatriots George Stewart, Shaun Smith, and Connor Smith.
The keynote speaker for the luncheon was Dr. Karim Michel Tiro, Ph.D. Professor and History Chair at Xavier University. Professor Tiro’s presentation examined the activities of the Oneida Indian Tribe during the American Revolution.
Cincinnati SAR First Lady Laurie Bredenfoerder conducted a split-the-pot raffle that also included a beautiful cross-stitch panel by Former First Lady Carole Gunn. Compatriot Larry Collins was the lucky winner. Laurie also conducted a Veterans’ Day Trivia Quiz that stimulated a lot of discussions. A variety of door prizes from previous luncheons were presented those who attained the highest scores.
President Bredenfoerder led the SAR Recessional and Chaplain, Rev. Dr. R. Edgar Bonniwell delivered the Benediction.
