Way Too Young! Obituary of Mathew Stuart Schmitz – June 11, 2025

With great sadness, one of our dedicated SAR members Dan Schmitz has lost a son and we have lost a fellow SAR member.  We mourn for both as well as the extended family.

Matthew Stuart Schmitz, with a smile that never fades

On June 11th, 2025 at the too early age of 26, honored SAR member Dan Schmitz informed us that his grandson, Mathew Stuart Schmitz, also a Cincinnati Chapter SAR member had passed away.

This is especially sad to lose someone so early in their life.  Our hearts, prayers and thoughts go out to Dan and his family.

It is especially tragic to lose someone in the prime of their life to a sudden accident.  Mathew has three young children.

In addition to Grandfather Dan Schmitz, Mathew’s father Daniel Stuart Schmitz II, brother Andrew Payne Schmitz (age 25) are also active regular members of the Cincinnati chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

We are so sorry for your loss and want to express our heartfelt condolences to the entire Schmitz and SAR family.

Youth Ed Chairman Bob Bowers presented Compatriot Dan Schmitz the National Society of the Sons of the American Revolution – “Col. Stewart Boone McCarty Award” from the 2024 National SAR Congress
