Library Lock-in Event – October 4th, 2025
Michael Gunn is the Committee Chairman of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution – Grave Marking Programs.

Genealogist Extraordinaire – Michael B. Gunn, PhD – CCSAR
Mike is continuously performing research on Patriots buried in the Southwest Ohio area which includes Hamilton, Clermont, Warren and Butler County. To say he is an expert is an understatement. That said, Mike’s continuous efforts to learn and discover more is noteworthy and appreciated.
Mike was requested to speak on the subject of finding Revolutionary Patriot burial sites, then honoring these veterans at Grave Marking Ceremonies focusing on the four counties in southwestern Ohio.
The audience was a group of about 30 genealogists most associated with the Hamilton County Historical Society. They met monthly in Cincinnati/Hamilton County Ohio Public Library after hours and this was the first event with a speaker since COVID shut down group presentations in 2020.
The group was really pleased with the presentation. Most of the participants were aware of CCSAR’s Grave Marking Program and the accumulation of names of Patriots who were buried in Hamilton, Clermont, Warren & Butler County.

After the talk they shared no surprise to the time and effort spent in the same stack of books they also combed to gather ancestry. The audience was particularly impressed with the Cincinnati SAR chapter ongoing activities in Washington Park activity.
Mike explained that our chapter is expecting to complete by next July 4th, the recognition of the 167 Patriots buried in unknown locations in Hamilton County.
