On Saturday evening, February 22, 1930 members of the Ohio Society, Sons of the Revolution (founded in 1883) and the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution held a joint dinner meeting at the University Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. There were twelve members of the Cincinnati Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution present, sixty-eight members of the Sons of the Revolution, and six guests. At this meeting the two united as the Ohio Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. The President elected that night was Harry Walter Hutchins, who had been President of the Sons of the Revolution in 1929. The speaker of the evening, Rev. Walter A. Hopkins, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Covington, Kentucky, who delivered a inspiring address “The Spirit of America.” The union of these two societies gave this area a much more influential organization and a much stronger and better coordinated program.
