The namesake of Warren County is Major General Dr. Joseph Warren the American Patriot and Revolutionary War hero killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill.

There was a special ceremony held on Tuesday September 10th at the Armstrong Event Center in Lebanon, OH (county seat for Warren County Ohio).

The program featured the unveiling of the bust portion for what will be a full-body, 1:1 bronze statue of Maj. Gen. Dr. Joseph Warren, American patriot and Revolutionary War hero killed at the Battle of Bunker Hill.
The Moment of Awe …. the unveiling of the replica bust of Dr. Warren
Dr. Joseph Warren is the namesake of Warren County in Ohio and thirteen other states. The statue to be located outside the Harmon Museum on South Broadway Street will be dedicated on the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Bunker Hill on June 17th, 2025.

There was the opportunity to meet and speak to the artist, John Hebenstreit, and members of the project Board of Directors.
Speaking is Michael Coyan, Executive Director of the Warren County Historical Society

The SAR offered to participate in the Warren statue dedication ceremony next year.

Brief Background on Dr. Warren:
Dr. Warren was one of the founding fathers of the United States. He was very instrumental in the Patriot movement in the Massachusetts area and served as the President of the Massachusetts Provincial Congress. He enlisted Paul Revere and William Dawes to leave Boston and warn of the British advance to Concord to arrest rebel leaders John Hancock and Samuel Adams.
Warren was commissioned as Major General however chose to fight in the Battle of Bunker Hill as a private soldier. Unfortunately he was killed in combat when the British stormed Breeds Hill.
He was a physician in private practice and became involved in politics.
