Want to learn more about the American Revolution timeline of events?
The television documentary miniseries about the American Revolution is directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein and David Schmidt.
There are six segments, each about two hours long. Yes, twelve hours of history of the timeline from 1775 – 1783.
The premiere of the series was Sunday Nov. 16th running through Friday Nov. 21st. If you missed the initial showing, don’t despair.
The series is available on demand for free on PBS. To gain access, go to
Computer Access – if you are viewing via your computer and internet connection, you go to http://www.pbs.org and search for “American Revolution” (it is a recent release and may be front and center on the pbs.org website), select the first episode and start watching.
The beauty of this offering is that you can watch as long as you want, if you need to stop, simply write down the episode (1-6) and the time stamp you check out. In actuality, if you register for an account, I believe the website recalls you latest progress.
TV / Streaming Service Access – if you want to view using your TV, you can search for PBS as an app, register for the app using your remote for your TV and you can watch the series via your arm chair. For example, I use Roku and signup and access was a five minute exercise.
I have watched the first two episodes and learned much about the history of the American Revolution prior to the July, 4th, 1776 the date we think of as the start of the Revolutionary War.
Please take the time to watch and I am confident you will learn more about the history of the events that our Patriot Ancestors participated in.
Note that PBS is always looking for donations. If you are willing, please do so!
Enjoy!
