Status Update – Progress Update – Fort Laurens Reconstruction Efforts

Update – Progress!

Tom Hankins shared an update on the progress with the Ft. Laurens reconstruction project.

Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers at Ft. Laurens

His comments are below:

“I have some good news. I attended a 250th Commission meeting today and spoke with Jon Brewster who is the lead archeologist with OHC (Ohio Historical Commission).

They are going to remove the leach field that is stopping further construction on the fort and connect to museum to the public water and sewage system. They now plan on building the complete exterior of the fort including the blockhouse as well as having a front gate in the south wall of the fort.

They have enough money for that but not enough to construct the interior buildings.

I am going to contact the Friends of Ft. Laurens to see if they would be willing to use the log fund to construct the interior buildings.”

Please pass this on to the Ohio Society.
