Revolutionary War Facts – Indigo and use as a form of barter or alternative currency

The following article was relevant during the American Revolution time period.

At the time of the American Revolution, the British pound was the most prevalent form of currency.  However there was an active bartering effort with goods serving as a form of payment.

Back in the mid 18th century (1700’s) indigo was a source of blue dye used for many clothing and other purposes.
