Donald Lee Bunnell
March 5, 1936 – September 30, 2025
We are sad to report that one of our long term Cincinnati SAR members has passed. We were informed recently by Donald’s wife Kathleen Bunnell.
Donald was 89 years old and had been a loyal member of the Cincinnati Chapter for almost 21 years since 12/08/2004.
Information captured from his obituary reads:
“Donald Lee Bunnell, age 89, of Lebanon, Ohio passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Hospice of Cincinnati. He was born on March 5, 1936 in Elmwood Place, Ohio to Katherine and William Bunnell. After graduating from St. Bernard High School, Don earned his B.S. degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati. He spent his 40 year career at General Electric, where he enjoyed overseas assignments in Europe and International travel during his time in Group Field Service and Customer Support.
In retirement, Don focused on studying the stock market and furthering his culinary skills. His volunteer service included organizing investment clubs, shuttle driving, and presiding over the monthly GE Retirees luncheon for many years. He was proud to be honored as the recipient of the 2019 Outstanding GE Retirees award.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Kathleen, daughters, Bethany Bunnell (Mark Schmidt), Christine Bunnell, son Donald Bunnell (Mitty Lie) and six grandchildren. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Bill Bunnell, Rosemary (Bunnell) Lautenslager and Bob Bunnell”
A private graveside service will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Springdale, and a Celebration of Life will take place later this year. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Otterbein Lebanon Benevolent Care Fund or Hospice of Cincinnati. Arrangements by the Oswald-Hoskins Funeral Home, Lebanon.
