On Saturday February 17th, there was a special event, featuring the nations first president and first lady.

The Daughters of the American Revolution, combining with the Sons of the American Revolution and Children of the American Revolution joined forces to welcome George and Martha Washington at a Presidents Day Luncheon.

The event was held at the Cincinnati Women’s Club in the Clifton area.
This was a world class event with plenty of time to mingle and meet & greet.

The events featured star power was with the first President and his wife Martha Washington. President Washington thanked his wife Martha for attending this event last year on his behalf.

The event started with the posting of the colors by the Nolan Carson Color Guard of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, followed by a call to order.

The color guard lined the entry way for the entrance of President Washington and Martha.
A closely guarded secret is that the President and 1st Lady were portrayed by Zachary Haines and Heidi Wiedamann.

Speakers included the head of the Cincinnati Chapter of the DAR – Monica Mohlenkamp. Monica introduced the heads of state which included Scott Freeman – President of the Cincinnati SAR, as well as the Ohio President of the Children of the American Revolution – Meridith Haynes.
A terrific lunch was served by the team at the Cincinnati Woman’s Club. The venue was perfect for this event and we were not disappointed.

The real draw for this event was the former President. President Washington gave an inspired presentation describing his past, the struggle for independence and the personal challenges faced during his service to our new country.

During the event, the Cincinnati SAR Chapter inducted a new member Cougar Jameson Perkins. As a special touch, his grandmother Natalie Fair-Albright, a Cincinnati Chapter DAR member participated in the induction and she pinned on the rosette on his lapel signifying SAR membership.

Meridith Haynes, the Ohio President of the Children of the American Revolution also addressed the audience and shared the projects the CAR is actively participating in.
At the conclusion of the event, the Cincinnati SAR Color Guard retired the colors, followed by the benediction delivered by Sharon Weber, Chaplain of the Cincinnati DAR.
