New Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Chapter – Recognizing African American Patriots

History cannot be denied.  Relatively unknown is the contributions that African American’s made to the Revolutionary War fight for independence.

Here in Cincinnati, a new African American Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Chapter has been created recognizing their service to our country.  The new chapter is named the “Attucks Lee Banneker” chapter.

George Stewart, who is the past president of the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, as well as the DAR Liason and State of Ohio SAR Historian has worked to support this new chapter.

George recently met with Michelle Wherry, who is the head Regent for this chapter.  Michelle and George met with a reporter from WCPO TV at the old Union Colored Cemetery in Madisonville.

WCPO TV is doing a feature article on their chapter and featuring the late Preston Gregory, an enslaved Revolutionary War patriot.  It will air this Monday, August 4th at 6:00 pm.  Michelle will be featured.

The full TV article can be accessed via the link below:
