SAR members – wondering if any of your SAR ancestors is a descendant of the original passengers aboard the Mayflower traveling to the colonies?
The NSSAR recently published a .pdf file with the names of the most recent Mayflower passenger list.
This is a special offer – as part of the America 250th Program, Sons of the American Revolution is partnering with the General Society of Mayflower Descendants to expand a database that links American Revolution Patriots to Passengers on the Mayflower.
If you are a member of the Mayflower Society through a Patriot of the American Revolution, I encourage you to click the “LEARN MORE” link below. It will present you with the Patriots to Passenger PDF Data Sheet. Check it to see if your Patriot is listed. Two of mine were not. If not, you may wish to consider sending a copy of your GSMD Record Copy and your NASSAR Record Copy to Muriel Cushing at 1620flash@gmail.com.
Note that “proof from other lineage societies may or may not be considered acceptable by The Mayflower Society.”
At this point I do not know whether successfully adding a Patriot to the database will earn SAR 250th credit. I would hope it would given the fact that this is an America 250th activity. I would ask Ms. Cushing for a document stating that your Patriot was added to the database.
As more and more information become available online, descendants are reaching out to connect their Revolutionary War Patriot with a Mayflower passenger.
Many Daughters and Sons of the American Revolution (DAR and SAR) are asking if they also have an ancestral tie to a Mayflower passenger and are interested in learning how they may become a member of The Mayflower Society.
The Patriots to Passenger Project is a growing published list of Revolutionary War Patriots who descend from Mayflower passengers. The intent is to build a bridge between lineage societies. Many Mayflower Society members are also members of other lineage societies.
Learn more about how you can be a part of the project and access the 445-page Patriots to Passenger list and see if your Patriot is already listed.
