This is a very historic event which Cincinnati SAR will participate in.
Historical Background:
In 1824-25, the Marquis de Lafayette’s returned to visit the United States. His grand tour of the country in 1824-1825, which lasted almost 13 months, included stops in all existing states. He received a hero’s welcome everywhere he went. The 200th anniversary of his visit is being celebrated and commemorated at many stops around the country.

May 19-20th, 2025 marks the 200th anniversary of his visit to Cincinnati.
Cincinnati SAR is a participating organization in commemorating the visit. All members are encouraged to attend these one-time special anniversary events to the extent that you can.

Note that the link provides a tremendous amount of information about the activities for Monday May 19 and Tuesday May 20th. Take a look through the events and highlight those you would be interested in attending.
There are events at 11:00 am Monday, 6:00 pm Monday evening and 10:30 am Tuesday morning.
At the bottom of the link is a “Register” button where you capture your information about the events you are attending. Payment instructions are also provided.
When registering, you will select the activities/events that you plan to attend. Please enter “Cincinnati SAR” as your organization.
Color Guard participation:

Welcome Event – 11:00 am Monday – May 19th
- The Cincinnati Chapter (CCSAR) has agreed to provide a Color Guard for the Welcoming of Lafayette at the Public Landing (on the river near Great American Ballpark) at 11:00 am on Monday, May 19th.
- This “Welcome Event” is free, but please register online and if participating in the Color Guard, inform CG Commander Jason Bourgeois.
Banquet / Concert / Ball – 6:00 pm Monday – May 19th
- The CCSAR also plans to provide a Color Guard and uniformed escorts for the Banquet/Concert/Ball at the Cincinnati Masonic Center downtown (doors open at 6:00 pm) on Monday, May 19th.
- The cost is $100 per person. It will be a very nice event.
- The Cincinnati Civic Orchestra will perform. There will be lessons and period dancing for those who have interest in dancing.
- Please register and pay online as early as possible, and if participating in the Color Guard, inform CG Commander Jason Bourgeois.
- Seating for Banquet – note that the Cincinnati Chapter does not plan to sponsor a VIP table at the banquet. There will be preferred seating for members of Participating Organizations behind the VIP tables.
