Cincinnati SAR Awarded the “Ohanesian History Presentation Award”

At the recent National SAR conference in Orlando Florida in July 2023, the Cincinnati Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution was awarded the “Ohanesian History Presentations Award”.

The Ohanesian History Presentations Award, approved in 2020, is presented to those chapters whose members collectively make the most oral presentations on any aspect of the American Revolution to classes/groups in schools (K-12) (75% public & 25%  other educational institutions) in their respective geographic service areas. Those chapter members making such presentations should wear some interpretive version of a uniform worn by patriots.

The award was created to encourage more chapters to conduct Education Outreach in schools across the country. This award is a $500 cash award to the top chapter in each of the following categories.

In the event of a tie in a category, each chapter so “tied” shall receive $500. The award cannot be won two (2) years in a row. Awards are presented to chapters only for the following categories: 10 to 49, 50 to 99, 100 to 199, and 200 or more members (Cincinnati is in the 200+ category).

Award winners are derived from information provided in the annual Americanism Report submitted by our Chapter to State and National SAR.

Congratulations to our Youth Education team headed by Ed Bonniwell and Bob Bowers.  Their tireless efforts to gain access to schools around the Tri-State Cincinnati area must be commended.  These gentleman and others from the Cincinnati Chapter who also participate in these programs are certainly appreciated and lauded for their support of Patriotism and helping our youth and young adults better understand our Nations history during the Revolutionary War.

Congratulations Cincinnati Chapter of the SAR!!
