Recently, our high school American history teacher winner, Mr. Doug Ficker was asked to make a presentation for the Ben Franklin SAR Chapter as part of their Constitution Day Luncheon.

George Stewart, a CCSAR member who is the driving force behind our American History Teacher award program, drove Doug and his wife Maria up to Columbus Saturday, September 20th.

His presentation was well received. President Bill Johnson presented his with a Certificate of Appreciation, a book on the US Constitution and a challenge coin.

Following the luncheon, they had a chapter meeting.  George introduced Doug to the group and promoted the American History Contest.

In the spirit of encouraging more participation from our Ohio Chapters, George challenged the Ben Franklin Chapter to Participate in the upcoming contest.

During Georges’ visit, he was proud and excited to learn that the Columbus area chapter promotes a Youth Reading Program that was started in Cincinnati and championed by George.

We are grateful for teachers like Doug Ficker who inspire our youth and make it a special point to learn more about early American History.  Education of our youth is one of the more important driving points behind the SAR.

Thanks!
