Two special events on the same day!
On Sunday December 7th, 2025, there will be two special events:
First, there is a Flag Retirement Ceremony where participants are encouraged to bring their tired and worn flags and have them disposed of properly by members of the American Legion Post 534.

Second, there is a remembrance ceremony at the Anderson Ferry on River Road. Participants will board one of the Anderson Ferries and venture out onto the Ohio River. There will be a brief service performed with wreaths placed in the river to honor those lost at Pearl Harbor eighty-four years ago.

Where: Flag Retirement – the activities start at the American Legion Post 534 building 4618 River Road. Parking is tight, so get there early!
The Ferry trip will gather in the generous sized parking lot between the Ohio River and US 50 (River Road). Cincinnati SAR Color Guard members will be dressed in period clothing. All members of the public are invited.
When: Doors open at the American Legion building at 9:00 AM where coffee and donuts are served. The Flag Retirement starts at 10:30AM, followed by the River event at 11:55AM. Note that the water activities are designed to occur at 12:00 EST noon, which is the local time of the Pearl Harbor attacks.

Optional: note that if you return to the American Legion Building after the River event, there will be lunch served if you are willing and able.
