Cincinnati SAR Presents Revolutionary War Patriot History to Mariemont Experimental School Students

Teaching our youth about the fight for independence and the creation of the first citizen elected government.  That is the mission of the Sons of the American Revolution Youth Education program.

On Wednesday May 8th  at 9AM members of the Cincinnati Chapter & Hocking Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution spent their morning at the Mariemont Experimental School in Terrace Park Ohio.

Here in the Gymnasium the eight SAR members dressed in Colonial and Continental attire demonstrated historical information about our Patriot ancestors.

After the general session the larger group of students were further divided into four  breakout sessions:

  • All about the Journal of Patriot Joseph Plumb Martin
  • The founding of our country, the Declaration of Independence, the creation of our Constitution
  • The life & times of General Mad Anthony Wayne
  • A display and discussion of 18th Century Artifacts

Bob Hill & Steve Conrad from the Hocking Valley SAR Chapter joined Cincinnati Chapter members: Bob Bowers, Jack Bredenfoerder, George Stewart, Gregg Ballman, Gary Duffield and Michael Gunn.  These gentleman shared knowledge about the Revolutionary War with over 100 students.  All these participants were dressed in 1770’s attire typical of the day.

The students were engaged and responded with good questions and thankful applause, as did their teachers.

Our team was honored and thrilled to be able to present and participate in these young adults education.  We are grateful for these students, their influential teachers, the school administrators who had open minds to permit our groups participation.
