On March 26th, President Scott Freeman presented two seventh graders and two eighth graders with Youth Good Citizenship Certificates at St. Joseph Central High School in his hometown of Ironton, Ohio.

The high school also serves the 7th and 8th grade middle school students The presentations were made at an assembly in the old gym that was held specifically for this purpose. President Freeman spoke to a group of about 70 students, teachers, and awardee parents about the SAR, his militia outfit, and the upcoming America 250th anniversary.

The St. Joseph award winners were Brayden Neal, Katie Wilds, Troy Erlenwein, and Finley Clyse. Each received a certificate and a SAR America 250th pin.

The audience also extended a congratulatory round of applause to Mr. Kevin McCown, the history teacher who coordinated the good citizenship awards, for being one of the newest members of the Cincinnati Chapter SAR. His application was approved by the National Society on March 21, 2025.

The Cincinnati Chapter’s Youth Good Citizenship Program, current Chairman Franz Ott, has recognizes hundreds of deserving middle school students in dozens of school systems each year, and has done so for many years.
