With deepest sympathy, America has lost a great man.
Jesse W. Andrews passed away Monday March 17th, on St. Patricks Day.
Jesse was a prominent figure as President of both the Cincinnati Chapter and State of Ohio – Sons of the American Revolution as well as other local organizations.

Jesse Andrews a true American Patriot!
He will be missed by all.
Our chapter owes Jesse and his family a great deal of gratitude for their contributions to our organization over the years.
Scott Freeman, our current Cincinnati Chapter President prepared Eulogy to honor and recognize Jesse. The story of Jesse Andrews from the view of the Scott Freeman is below:
Jesse M. Andrews Eulogy
Jesse Andrews proved his patriot ancestry and joined the SAR in 1980, when I was a freshman at UC.
When he passed away on March 17, 2025, he was our third longest time, active member of the chapter.
He became President of the Cincinnati Chapter in 1984, then President of the Ohio Society in 1993, then President of the Cincinnati Chapter again in 1995.
Mike Gunn told me that when he first told Jesse he was a member of the SAR, long ago, Jesse said, “Oh yea, I used to be involved in that”, not mentioning that he was a past President of the Ohio Society and a two-time Past President of the Cincinnati Chapter. Since then he has been involved as a leader in several other organizations.
Last year in May, Jesse attended our Cincinnati Chapter meeting, the first one he had attended in a long time, where he received the Hub Scott Award from the state society, or more formally, he became a Samuel Hubbard Scott Laureate. This is the highest personal recognition and honor the Ohio Society SAR can bestow on an individual.
Jesse Andrews receives the Hub Scott Award from the State of Ohio SAR society, or more formally, he became a Samuel Hubbard Scott Laureate.
I only met Jesse a couple of times including last May, but from what I have heard, I realize that the Cincinnati Chapter is still benefiting from things he did as President of the chapter decades ago, and that our current strength and success as a chapter is partly due to his long ago leadership.
I think if the Cincinnati Chapter SAR had a Mt. Rushmore of past presidents, Jesse Andrews would probably be one of the faces carved into the mountain.
In conclusion, although Jesse’s main involvement and service to the SAR was decades ago and few current members knew him, his service and contributions are still appreciated and have not been forgotten. The fact that the Cincinnati Chapter had seven members who attended the visitation on Friday evening and five that attended the funeral and/or graveside services in uniform on Saturday is a testimony to that fact.
Going forward, he will be missed, but his legacy will continue to endure.
Visitation will take place at the Radel Funeral Home, 650 Neeb Rd., Cincinnati, 45233, on Friday March 21, 2025 from 5pm until 7pm. Suggest Business Attire and muster at 6pm, midway through visitation.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 22, 2025 at 10am at the funeral home. Suggest muster at 9:30am, entering together at 945am. Color Guardsmen are encouraged to wear uniforms.
At this time, no information is available on graveside services. We will update when additional information becomes available.
